WKConline starts new seminars in partnership with Loans for Bad Credit USA

Our company Loans for Bad Credit USA is constantly evolving, and as such has the ability to fund and assist various social projects and companies.

On 14.10.2021, Loans for Bad Credit USA became a financial partner of WKConline and helps journalism of today become better. Loans for Bad Credit Online USA has established an annual grant in journalism and acts as an ongoing aid to journalists and students.

Multimedia Reporting and Convergence Seminar

May 21 - May 27

University of California, Berkeley/Graduate School of Journalism

The Western Knight Center for Specialized Journalism in partnership with the Ethics and Excellence in Journalism Foundation accepted applications for this expenses-paid seminar that combined practical instruction in multimedia reporting with in-depth exploration of media convergence and other critical issues for online news operations.

Participants got five full days of intense hands-on instruction on how to do multimedia stories for the Web, including:

Using digital video cameras, photo cameras and minidisc recorders;
Doing storyboards, stand-ups, voiceovers and other broadcast techniques;
Digital video, audio and photo editing;
Creating photo slide shows in Flash;
Web page creation and multimedia Web site design.

Fellows created a multimedia project as part of the seminar.

In addition, there were evening and noontime panels and presentations by online publishing experts on the most pressing issues in online publishing, such as implementing converged newsrooms, working with citizen journalism sites, integrating multimedia into the newsroom and managing multimedia projects, and business issues in online publishing.

Education Research and Statistics Bootcamp

March 9 - March 12

University of Southern California/Annenberg School for Communication

In a unique partnership, the Education Writers Association and the Western Knight Center for Specialized Journalism offered an opportunity for education reporters to explore education research and statistic in-depth. This expenses-paid bootcamp taught reporters how to interpret and manipulate research data and understand findings with a more critical perspective. Since education research reports cross the desks of reporters almost daily, it's difficult to sort out the good research from the bad. And education reporters must use so much data and statistics because of such topics as testing, dropout rates, teacher quality and other issues, it's difficult to determine statistics from lies and damned lies.

Successful applicants:

Deepened their understanding of the use of statistics, especially when reporting on education. A stronger understanding of statistics will help reporters understand, for instance, when test score increases are statistically significant and when they increase beyond the point of credulity.
Learned how to read education research and gauge the good quality research from the bad.
Understood how to read test scores and how to report on test scores without exaggerating results or underplaying results.
Developed a specific project for publication using data. Reporters will be contacted by facilitators before and after the conference so they can fine-tune their projects and have a solid foundation for the numbers they are using.
